Cats

At Think Green Ranch, we are proud to say that our cats are some of the happiest and healthiest around. We believe that by providing them with a clean, stress-free environment, we are giving them the best possible chance to thrive. Our cats are never given hormones or antibiotics, and they are free to roam and play as they please. We believe that happy cats lead to healthy cats, and we are committed to providing our furry friends with the best possible care. If you are looking for a farm that puts the wellbeing of its animals first, look no further than Think Green Ranch.

At Think Green Ranch, not only our cattle and poultry are living happy lives but our cats as well!

We take pride in the fact that they’re among the healthiest and best around! We’ve pampered our cats just as how we spoil our cattle (sometimes we even think it’s getting way in their heads already) to make sure they’re living the best time of their lives each day at the ranch. They’re all very accommodating of our guests as well and on days when there are no visitors, they can be seen happily frolicking around the verdant fields or simply enjoy a lazy afternoon.

Cats

Cats were first domesticated in the Near East around 7500 BC. It was long thought that cat domestication began in ancient Egypt, where cats were venerated from around 3100 BC. As of 2021, this is no longer believed to be the case. Cats have been present on nearly every continent for centuries and have dramatically shaped animal biodiversity and human culture as a consequence

Fenway

Fenway is our biggest cat. She is the mom that started it all. She was originally just a stray that was found in a field, and was eventually given to us to be a barn cat on June 16, 2019. Fenway was probably 3-4 weeks old at most when we got her and was way too little to be the barn cat, so she ended up becoming a family cat instead.

On May 13, 2020, she gave birth to a litter of 7 cats and we decided to keep 3 of her babies, with the other 4 being adopted by friends and family.

She also has the habit of sneaking into the hay barn and on one occasion, she ended up getting locked in there for the night – Which she doesn’t seem to care too much about and mind at all! Fenway probably enjoyed the peaceful night with no one waking her up! Even though never really kept up on the mouse control routine, her children became very successful hunters that kept the mice at bay.

Ca-hole-A

  • Ca-hole-A is a tuxedo cat whose name was a namesake of another “semi-internet-famous” cat which we were also very fond of (Cole from https://coleandmarmalade.com/). Ca-hole-A enjoys lots of attention, very demanding for pats and will keep on meowing loudly until you notice him.

To pronounce his name correctly, you have to say the “Ole” part like it was an old movie about a bullfighter and you want to over act as if to channel your best William Shatner. Then just put a hard “K” in front of that and you have his name.

Ca-hole-A rarely sleeps outside and will stand by the back door and yell at you if you walk near the door.

Oreo

  • Oreo is a cool and very chill cat. Sometimes even too chill for his own good.

He will even let you hold him upside down, let you give him lots of belly rubs if you want to treat him more like a dog if that’s more of your thing.

His full name is Sir Oreo Maximus as I was informed back in June 24, 2020.

He also doesn’t seem to mind pulling an all-nighter to keep watch and he will frequently sleep on the chairs on the front porch. In the morning, he will want to go back in and there is a table on the front porch that he will use to look in the house.

Winny

  • Although we have several cats around, the one that typically spends the most time with us in the house, and winning all the love, is Winny.

She’s the smallest cat (the sweetest as well!), and the runt of the litter. Originally named Winston, in reference of Winston Churchill, we later found out that he was a she so we had to change her name. When she was little, we had to frequently take her to the vet because she was throwing up sick but she’s perfectly healthy now and really loves to be around people – especially when it means getting cuddles.

She’s not an outdoor all-night cat by any means, and doesn’t really like the rain. She is a close to home cat, but she does like to go outside for a few hours, on sunny days, or for some hunting. All in all, Think Green Ranch wouldn’t be the same without our little Winny pouncing around and bringing joy to everyone she meets.
