Zebra
At Think Green Ranch, we are proud to be home to a zebra! These beautiful animals play an important role in our farm (mainly getting us to laugh about crazy zebras), and we strive to provide them with the best possible environment. Our Zebra is never given hormones or antibiotics, and we provide him with plenty of space to roam. We hope that you will come and visit us soon to meet our Zebra and see our sustainable farm for yourself!
About our Zebra
The plains zebra and the Grevy’s zebra are the largest of the three species, while the mountain zebra is the smallest. Plains zebras are social animals that live in family groups consisting of a stallion, several mares, and their offspring. These family groups join together with other families to form herds of up to several hundred individuals. Grevy’s zebras live in much smaller herds and have a more solitary lifestyle. Mountain zebras are also relatively solitary, but they do sometimes form small groups of two or three individuals. All three species are herbivores that feed on grasses and other plants. Zebras are generally diurnal, meaning they are active during the day. However, they can be active
- Our little guy is named Ziggy or Barcode
- We are still getting this figured out. He is starting to settle in, but he is definitely on his way to becoming more of a wild animal than a pet.
- Zebras so far aren’t cheap. We are still learning a lot with this guy, and he has helped us get to know another vet.
